Evangelical church pastor urging celebration of The Feast of Trumpets!

po_84994.epsAgain, I want to thank the blog God Discussion for finding this article from World Net Daily in which a church pastor by the name of  Mark Blitz is urging fellow Christians to celebrate this coming Feast of Trumpets (which is coming this sunset Friday September 18th). Again this person is not Armstrongite but an evangelical Christian who believes that the Holy Days in Leviticus 23 revealed the plan of  God in which the spring Holy Days revolved around the first coming Christ and the fall reveals the second coming of our Lord. Some former XCGers are probably in shock and horror in response to Pastor Mark Blitz. Others like John Valade, Doug Ward and myself  can never be more elated with Pastor Blitz’s approach. It cannot be denied that Pastor Blitz has a desire to worship God in spirit and in truth and he feels that this is  the best way to do it.  It’s time that this “spiritual McCarthyism” comes to an end and stop assuming there are closet legalists or Armstrongists lurking to hurt people. That is just simple paranoid thinking and does nobody good. Read the article at http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=109447 and if you are interested in ordering his DVD called The Feasts of the Lord go here at:http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=109447.

The God Discussion Podcast with Dakota dealing with spiritual abuse

hurt2Just a warning, this podcast is almost 2 hours long, so get ready! The God Discussion blog is now on intenet radio and Dakota O’Leary is interviewed discussing her years in the historic WCG with her family, the religious right, the dangerous of Christian fundamentalism, religious and physical abuse in families, far-right paranoia about President Obama and health care reform, first-hand hypocrisy of the Christian Right and evangelicals  among many topics. Both the moderator and many of you know that Dakota, of course, are former members of the Worldwide Church of God and it is very interesting to things hear from a female perspective.  In the blogdom of former XCGers, we hear from male perspective (Aggie being the exception) and it is was refreshing to hear to something different, although you may not agree with everything said. Neverthless, a good show. I am hopeful that in future episodes that it will be reduced too ONE hour instead of two and a little more professional development with the sound and editing quality will be in order. I am confident that in the months and even years to come, this will be accomplished along with a big loyal audience to support it. Listen to the show here.

Two more on the blogroll

n1168893940_7966pic1As I have always said on my blog that there is truly life after the Worldwide Church of God, whether historic or evangelical…and more abundantly. Two men who have been part of the WCG  have truly expressed that in their own blogs.  Interestingly enough both are doing Bible studies on Revelation (it’s a guy thing) and believe you me, I am soo glad I learn something new every day.  What was the real story about Laodocea? What God mean that they were neither hot nor cold? What about the number 666? Who is the Beast? If you are truly looking answers that are quite different from what you were taught in the historic WCG, these two gentleman can guide you in the path. Fellow Canadian (from the province of Saskatchewan)  John Valade has his blog by the name of Wascilla Fellowship 2.0 and good ole Texan boy Randy Olds has his blog Life Aboveground. So here is more to your reading list!

A Feast of Tabernacles in Disneyland???

Sukkot_RGB_darkBGThanks as always PasedenaGuy10! As my friend PG10 says,

Forget all those fake COG ‘Feasts’, come to Disneyland and experience a true Sukkot. Forget those silly sukkot’s built on the plaza in front of the Ambassador Auditorium. This is the real stuff! There will be no ranting and spitting by Six-Pack Flurry, WeinerDude Weinland, or Spanky MerryDeath. This is guaranteed to give you a foretaste of how pleasurable the kingdom will be! Mickey will be there to make your days delightful. And it’s kosher too!

Feast fever anyone? Take a look at some REAL feast fever!

It has been a while since I posted but like the rest of us we have jobs and other important errands to attend to first. Plus, many are enjoying the summer vacation outside but some in the Church of God tradition are probably beginning to prepare of the Holy Day season, especially The Feast of Tabernacles which arrives this October.  I stumbled this video on Youtube sponsored by a Christian pro-Israel group called The International Christian Embassy  of Jerusalem and they have both an American based and Canadian based sites at http://www.icej.org/ and http://www.icejcanada.org/ respectively. Though the video you are about to watch is from their 2008 Feast of Tabernacles and if you want enthusiasm and passion, you’ll get it. It’s nothing like you seen at a historic WCG or it’s respective splinters Feast of Tabernacles!

COG’s Should Listen to Whaid Rose

(A post from Richard Burkard on Mark Tabladillo’s Jesus Loves Fellowship message board)

whaid roseOn page 31 of the June issue of the Church of God-Seventh Day’s Bible Advocate is an excellent essay by President Whaid Rose, which directly addresses some problems and “blind spots” many WCG spinoffs have.

He writes about “Crossroads” the church must face — such as:

….being light and salt to the culture or being against culture; being fishers of men or keepers of the aquarium.

I’d dare say nearly all COG spinoffs fit the latter descriptions.  And that’s why their growth (in many ways) is slim or none.

….the Church still must decide along the way whether to base its identity on “being different” or “being in Christ.”

For instance, UCG seems to be putting more emphasis now on “branding” itself (pgs. 1, 5) based on “the distinct message we preach.”  It will be interesting to see exactly what that means — a message that’s Christ-centered, Kingdom-centered, prophecy-focuses or whatever.

But where the primary focus is on being different from other churches, isolationism and “holier than thou” attitudes usually abound.

Wow — that sounds awfully familiar. 🙂

I get the impression from this article that COG-7 has faced these crossroads over the years.  How recently, I do not know.  But you certainly don’t hear about regular splits or tussles in that denomination compared to the WCG spinoffs.  Maybe the other groups could learn something?!

A Christian Mafia????

Again, this is no way is a joke and the concept should frighten the living you-know-what out of you. On HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, one man’s experience (Jeff Sharlet) with this fraternity called The Fraternity should definately open your eyes and raise some cause for concern. I would dare to say that this man’s testimony makes a Steven King  novel look like a peaceful nightime story.
