Intelligent quote of the day

n1569541058_2864Human life is short, special and to be enjoyed. Dance like an idiot. Love your wife and kids. Tell dumb jokes and mess up the punch line. Start a business, succeed or fail, you will learn! Its all good in the end. Discover new science, lift up your corner of the universe and see how it works! God’s given us all so many mysteries to explore and things and materials from which we can create. And for the love of God, learn to leave the Apocalyptic mindset. Its a mind virus, a life waster. We all die as humans, but our Spirit goes back to the one who created it.

—Bold, brave, challenging, go-smell-the-roses, common sense  advice from former Ekklessia website founder and  member William (Bill) Ferguson in his closing comments this past May as he moves on to other endeavours.

  1. Agreed Felix – a truly intelligent and insightful quote.

It’s been my experience that this is one of the hardest things to do after leaving the COG’s. That “Apocalyptic mindset” is so deeply entrenched that it affects everything – every action, every decision, every plan ends up being filtered through it to one degree or another. I don’t know if I’ll ever be completely rid of this mindset, even though I know it is at the heart of all the things I regret most in my life.

Contrast that to what Jesus said in John 10:10: “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” And isn’t that just what Bill is saying, “Go and live life more abundantly?” Those who teach otherwise Jesus compares to a “thief [who] does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy”. They do not speak with the Shepherds voice.
