Charles Dorothy and I were school, college and Forest Service friends. I lost track of him when he joined the WCG sometime arount 1956, I am interested in just what caused his leaving the church. He contacted me shortly before his death but we were not about to talk in detail. I would be pleased to learn something about his trajectory in and out of the Church.

Bless you, FT, for the kind words. (Well, I'm not sure about that "character" part. Ahem....)

Since you brought it up, you're the first online to know -- I'm taking my own leave of absence from UCG. I didn't know you wrote that phrase before I used it to a group of brethren from my UCG congregation, at a Feast dinner Tuesday night.

The people in my congregation seemed understanding in person. Even my Pastor did, when I told him at the end of the Last Great Day service Thursday. (But he already knew about it, from the Local Elder who was at the Tuesday dinner.) We parted company with a hug.

I explained to all that my examination of other options could wind up being one long lap around the race track -- and I could wind up back in UCG. I'm not leaving out that possibility. I'm praying God will lead me to the right place.

My first stop this weekend? I'll call it Megachurch Baptist -- which has a 5pm Saturday Bible study, a 6pm worship service (sundown's 7:20pm here right now), and a potential new controversy over a change in its incorporation status. My city has no Seventh-Day Baptist, so this will have to do for now.

Hey, FYI Again

If somebody could have gave copies of the Ambasador Report by the late John Trechak in the 1980's and early 90's when I was a teen and in my early 20's, I could have made a heck of a lot of different choices altogether. I even believe that I would have been in Harper's cabinet (my Prime Minister here in Canada) by now but I know my life is not over yet and yes yours is not over yet too. On to better days ahead!

Hey Felix. I was familiar with everyone you listed except Jesse Ancona. Thanks for the link - I wish I'd known her. As I read some of the things she wrote I'm finding a lot of common ground. Her "Lying with the Truth..." article is one of the most spot on descriptions of the Armstrongist COG's I've ever read.

If I'd read this in 1996, I could have saved myself an awful lot of trouble.

Warning! Warning! Warning!

Though I find many good things about the Church of God Seventh Day, I am not associated with them. I do think they might be a good refuge for those harmed by the blasphemies of the idolatry of Herbert Armstrong: A return to the roots, so to speak.

A couple of years ago, we briefly had a look at the Church of God Seventh Day. Unfortunately, it was a local congregation which was on its way to betray the CoG7: They started on the foundation of the CoG7, only to split off into their own independent local "Sabbatarian Evangelical Community Based Fellowship". They ousted a board member who wanted to stay with the CoG7 and never looked back. It would seem that Armgstrongists aren't the only ones filled with betrayal, nets and snares. The congregation enjoys Chri$tian Mu$ic. Expect to find lots of ex UCG members there.

Just remember that the Church of God Seventh Day sprang from that great false prophet, William Miller. It was a great disappointment. It is a conundrum: A false prophet springing from a church based on a false prophet.

There are those of us who are looking for honoring God the Father with devotion to our Lord and Master Jesus Christ in joy and hope, without the dreary tainted poisonous divisive wickedness of a dead false prophet.

There are others untainted. Note the joy of those Christians keeping the Feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem several years back:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ra4HWj1jrJA

Perhaps God has reserved for Himself even more than 7,000 who have not bowed their knee to Baal. Armstrongists can be replaced. It has been 20 years. If there are 20 more years, it will complete the 40 years of trials from the death of Herbert Armstrong. Jesus said that stones could be raised up.

Be afraid.

Be very afraid.

xCGs can be replaced by those who are not blasphemous idolaters.

And just in case any reading this has any illusions that churches such as United have one shred of integrity, read the journals of the current war over the Sabbath:
